Poetry Pondering
In class P6/7C have been studying a range of poetry, beginning by looking at raps with their beats and how it translates into different styles of poems. Poems that the class have studied included 'Kennings Cat', 'I saw a Jolly Hunter', 'Leaves' and even writing individual Autumn Haikus. The class have really enjoyed looking at the literacy techniques that poets have included in the poems and answering comprehension questions around them.
Rapping Revolution in P7!
In Literacy, P7C have been focusing on learning how to rap. Using a mixture of modern and classical poetry to work from, the class have been studying the stylistic devices of the rap that include repetition, rhyming pairs and dramatic language. Using clapping to count the pace, the class even performed their converted raps and have really enjoyed this twist on learning poetry.
