Term Two

SHARED EDUCATION

P7 pupils from Hardy Memorial and St Patrick’s enjoyed a great day out at the Ulster Folk and Transport Museum at Cultra. The pupils particularly enjoyed looking at the steam locomotives similar to the one in their shared topic about Armagh Railway Disaster.

TITANIC HOT SEATING

Pupils worked together to prepare questions for volunteers who assumed the characters of Thomas Andrews, J. Bruce Ismay, Captain Smith, Molly Brown, Charles Lightoller and Benjamin Guggenheim. The boys and girls in the ‘hot seat’ answered questions and justified decisions made very well!

📚 WORLD BOOK DAY 📚

This year to celebrate World Book Day each class decorated their door as their favourite book cover. We chose ‘Gangsta Granny’.

TITANIC CAROUSEL

We used a carousel activity to find out what different groups in P7H knew about the Titanic and the people and places linked to the ship. We have learnt a lot about our WAU topic! 🚢

SHARED EDUCATION

P7 pupils from St Patrick’s Primary School visited the P7 classes at Hardy. All the pupils worked together at animation and STEM activities linked with their shared topic- Armagh Railway Disaster. We were delighted to have James Connor from Sentinus to help us to build electrically powered trains. 🚂🛤

HEALTHY KIDZ KEEPS US FIT! 🏃🏼‍♀️🏃🏻

ICT

P7H enjoyed taking part in a workshop organised by the AMMA Centre. The pupils worked in pairs to successfully learn how to program micro:bits. We had lots of fun! 😀

SHARED EDUCATION

We visited St Patrick’s Primary School in Armagh to join in a shared Zumba class before visiting Armagh County Museum to find out more about Armagh Railway disaster.

STEM - BALLOON JETS

P7H worked in groups to design and make balloon jets. The winning team, whose design travelled the furtherest, was Henry, Polina, Robyn and Chloe B. Second place went to Andrew, Leo, Juliette and Harry C. Well done! 👏🏻 👏🏻

STEM - ENERGY

PNEUMATICS

The pupils really enjoyed working with air in tubes to investigate how air could be moved from one place to another. Once the air was compressed the boys and girls could see that it made objects move.

MATHS PROBLEM SOLVING

P7H investigate how many counters will fit on different sized grids without having three counters in a row!
