Term 2

Windsor Park Shared Education Trip! What a marvellous day we had with our friends from St Patrick’s, visiting the home of Northern Ireland’s football team. We had a stadium tour, stepped on the pitch, enjoyed the interactive museum and engaged with a Safefood workshop on the benefits of eating and drinking healthily. We had the best day!

Earthquake Simulator! As part of our fun for British Science Week, we created our own ‘Japanese Skyscrapers’ before testing their strength and endurance on our very own form of base isolation - a tray of jelly!

The Shinkansen! We’ve been learning about the incredible bullet train which speeds from one Japanese city to another at around 210 miles per hour! Check out our persuasive adverts, made on PicCollage, which target a potential UK market!

Our World Book Day Character Spoons! Can you identify your favourite books?

Pancakes and Poems! We have been reading and writing a range of Haiku, Kennings and Limerick poems. We are good at multi-tasking!

World Book Day ft Japan! We had great fun translating our favourite book titles into Japanese using ‘Google Translate’ - we then captured the story using our own illustrations!

Our Pagoda Gardens! Using oil pastels to capture the beauty and splendour of Japan, our new World Around Us topic.

Who Am I? We have worked so hard on our digital portraits and disguises using the Paper 53 app on the iPad. Wow!

Fantastic Fairtrade! Check out our wonderful oil pastel paintings and tissue paper collages which showcase the importance of respecting farmers and the hard work they pour in at the start of a product process.

IZAK9 Pyramids! We loved testing our knowledge of number bonds by using the IZAK9 cubes to build a pyramid wall according to set rules. The competition was fierce!

Oranges in No Man’s Land! As part of our class novel work, we role-played the scene where Ayesha seeks help from Dr Leila at the other side of ‘no man’s land’. The ‘old auntie‘ wasn’t letting her away with anything!

Fractions is fun with Chocolate! We loved using different colours of smarties to experiment with equivalent fractions, comparing numerators and denominators. We tried not to eat them all!
