Today in P1 we had a very mysterious letter from Secret Agent S! He had a secret mission for us - to write the secret symbol “s” and hide it from the Secret Sound Snatcher!!
Ditch the Dark Day 2025
There was great excitement in P1 when a mysterious letter arrived with a special challenge. We had so much fun finding 5 pigs in lots of different ways for Farmer Nelligan!
There was great excitement in P1 as we learnt all about our first sound - m! We then used muddy mucky paint to practise writing the letter m - Maisie Mountain Mountain!
We read the non-fiction text “Pigs!” and then welcomed some very exciting visitors into P1! 🐷🐷
We had lots of fun exploring the number 4 at Forest School for Maths Week! 🌲🌲🌲🌲
Literacy: We read the big book “An Apple a Day” about Orchards in County Armagh. Then we followed instructions to make apple crumble - it was so yummy! 🍏
Grandparents Day: We had a wonderful morning investigating Autumn at Forest School with some of our special grandparents! They couldn’t believe how much we have fun we have when we are learning in P1!
P1 Scientists practised the scientific skills of observation and prediction during their “magic milk” experiment! 🧪
WAU: Learning all about farm machinery with a visit from Burkes! We read some non-fiction books and loved investigating the different parts of the tractors! 🚜
Numeracy: Practising our subitising and numeral writing skills with our dice game! 🎲
High Frequency Word hunt! 🔎
Numeracy: Investigating the composition of 3 by playing the hoop game! Some beanbags fell inside the hoop and some fell outside, but there were always three altogether! 🏅
Learning all about Number 3!
Literacy/WAU/STEM: We had a visit from ‘Hay Hay’ the hen. We learnt all about how to look after hens then read the story of ‘The Little Red Hen’ and then made bread, predicting and observing what effect the yeast would have on the dough. Then we wrote a shared sentence. 🐓

Forest School: 2D shape hunt!
Mathematics and Numeracy: All about one! We have been practicing the formation, composition and representation of number one ☝️.
Language and Literacy: We have begun to learn High Frequency Words! Working hard on these in school and at home will help us to get ready to read! 📖
