Term Two

This was Mrs Marks’ last day as our teacher. We went to a special assembly, had a fun party, then finished the morning with a story and some songs. Mrs Irvine is going to be our new teacher next week!

This week is Science week! Our class enjoyed a visit to the Gadget Shop to buy some interesting things, we enjoyed a fantastic W5 science show and also experimented with some magic potions and giant droppers! Both classes loved it!

Our afternoon class loved their visit to Tannaghmore Gardens! We had fun in the play park with our friends, had a snack, saw some signs of Spring and looked at the farm animals

Our morning class loved their morning out in Tannaghmore Gardens. As well as enjoying the play park and a snack, we looked for signs of Spring and saw the farm animals

A huge thank you to Mark and Tina, who are paramedics, who brought their ambulance to school to show the children and tell them all about their job. We got to see the equipment they use, the uniform they wear and the flashing lights. We also heard the siren: it was loud! It tells drivers to move out of the way. Tina told us the number we should phone if we need an ambulance and Mark reassured us that there is no need to be scared, the paramedics just want to help us. Mrs O’Neill and Mrs Marks had some emergency treatments too! Thank you so much, Mark and Tina!

World Book Day 2026: the Nursery boys and girls, and staff, came to school today in our pyjamas! We talked about healthy bedtime routines and enjoyed some lovely bedtime stories and songs. It was a very relaxed and chilled out day!

We had a wonderful visit from Mrs McNally, our favourite lollipop lady! She told us all about her job, the uniform she wears and how she helps so many boys and girls get to school safely. We learned that we need to stop, look and listen, and only cross the road when she tells us it is safe. We pretended the mat was the road and practised crossing safely. The children were reminded that Mrs McNally is a safe person to talk to or ask for help in our community.

We had a fabulous morning at College Farm Nursery School in Armagh, where we explored lots of People who help us with our shared education partners. Huge thanks to Mrs Kelly and the team there who made us so welcome.

We have been playing in our role play hospital for the past few weeks, learning lots of new vocabulary and how to interact with others in different scenarios. Today we put all our learning to good use in our Teddy Bears’ Clinic where we saw patients with tummy ache, headache, broken bones, fever, toothache, ear infections and many more ailments! The boys and girls were very gentle doctors and nurses!

In honour of Mrs O’Neill’s Chinese heritage we celebrated Chinese New Year. Mrs O’Neill taught us how to say Kung Hei Fat Choi, which means Happy New Year! We practised our fine motor skills with a fun woolly noddle game where we had to use chopsticks or tweezers to collect the noodles! We practised our scissor skills by making beautiful Chinese lanterns. We looked at very tricky Chinese writing and tried so hard to make our own. And we had prawn crackers at snack time. What a fun day!

Our firefighter training at PE has been very popular with the afternoon class. These pictures were taken on Number Day when we loved talking about, colouring, writing and exploring numbers all in a good cause for NSPCC.

Playful science: floating and sinking. We investigated which objects float and which things sink. We found that things made of metal sink because they are heavy, the boats float except when we put heavy objects inside them, and the sponges, cork and stick float because they are light. We noticed when we drop the toy pig in the water it sinks, but when we put it in the boat it floats!

Playful science PM class: we enjoyed making fossils and dinosaur prints in the playdough. We pretended to be scientists and tried to free the fossils from the rocks. We also made great imprints.

Playful science AM Class: we investigated fossils, bones and dinosaurs in the playdough today! Did you know that a fossil is a dinosaur preserved in rock after millions of years? Huge thanks to Noah T and Ollie for being our dino advisors: the two boys are experts in dinosaur names, habitat and diet!

Dinosaur printing in the afternoon class! Lots of stomps through the paint!

Our morning class enjoyed printing with the dinosaurs! We dipped the feet into the paint and stomped across the page!

To fit in with our adventure topic, we completed an obstacle course: the boys and girls in the afternoon class were great at balancing along the wobbly bridge, crawling through the dark cave, avoiding the crocodiles on the stepping stones and climbing up the big mountain. It was terrific fun!

Our topic this month is adventure so we set up a fun obstacle course for our first PE lesson of the new year. The morning class boys and girls were expert explorers- they balanced across the wobbly bridge, went across the stepping stones, crawled through the dark cave and climbed the high mountain! We had so much fun!
