Sense Series: Tasteπ π
Next up in investigating our senses was looking at our sense of taste. We tried sweet, sour, salty and bitter…some were definitely tastier than others and some made us screw up our faces!π€£ππ§π¬π«
Lung Capacity STEM Investigation π«
We used loads of STEM skills to investigate our lung capacity by displacing water out of a bottle by blowing through a straw. We predicted what our lung capacity might be, then recorded the data in a table to compare our lung capacity to others in the class! Fantastic Fun! π«π§πΌπ¬π©π»π¬
Sense Series: Hearing ππ»
We continued learning about our senses by putting our hearing to the test! We took a listening walk around the school grounds before having a discussion about what sounds we heard. Good news parents! All ears are working correctly… so there’s no excuse for not following directions πππ»
Senses Series: Sight and Touchππ»π
As part of our Marvellous Me topic, P4 will be exploring all of their super senses! We looked at the sense of sight, by labelling parts of the eye. Then, for the sense of touch we explored different materials, linking our literacy by using adjectives to describe them! Stay tuned for the next sense… ππ»
Word Problems!
After completing some rounding word problems in numeracy, some pupils tried writing their own and challenging their friends to answer them! Super work! π
Maths Week!π’βοΈ
To celebrate maths week, we tested our tally chart skills in Forest school! Working together to create tally charts to count natural objects that we could find! Such fun! π
Writing A Recipe!π
After looking at instructions all week in Literacy, we were tasked to write a recipe! So we decided to make iced biscuits and after write a recipe for others to follow. πͺπ©π³π¨π³
Instructional Writing Tasks!βοΈ
After discussing the features of instructional writing, we followed clear instructions to build a paper pirate hat! We think we arrrrrrrr looking great! π΄β οΈ
Clay Faces on Grandparents Day!π¨π΅π»π΄π»
We managed to finish painting our clay faces, exploring painting using realistic colours. Thanks to our very special visitors that helped us… A very lovely morning for all!
Forest School!π³
We took our maths skills outside and used carrol diagrams to sort natural resources that we found! Lots of fun on a crisp October afternoon. π²π¨
Food Group Fun!
To continue with our topic work, we looked at different food items and where they belong on the food pyramid! We ordered the different foods based on what we thought was the most important before sorting them into their food groups … but learnt that all food groups play an important role as part of a healthy diet to fuel us!πͺπ»ππ₯π
Clay Facesπ§πΌπ¦π½
As part of our class topic ‘Marvelous Me’, we used slab art to recreate our faces out of clay. They’re looking great (even if we do say so ourselves)…next task is to finish them off by painting to add colour! π¨
Guided Reading Fun!π
Over the past weeks we have started our guided reading activities! It’s been enjoyable to get into our reading groups, have great discussions and complete different activities based on our books.
Roots of Empathy! πΆπΌπΌ
The day has finally arrived… we got to meet baby Reggie! We measured his height and weight, sang to him and observed all he can do! We can’t wait to welcome him back into the classroom to watch him grow up over the next few months.
Super Sorting!π§πΌπ¦π½
We enjoyed sorting sweeties onto a Venn Diagram π¬Then we put our sorting skills to the test by sorting our classmates features onto a Venn Diagram.

We enjoyed chatting to everyone after the summer holidays and spending some time getting to know each other!
