Term 2

ICTβŒ¨οΈβ˜„οΈ

Our new WAU topic is ‘Space’ and we kicked it off by planning our very own Mars Rover with a partner. We then went to the computer room and built our Rover in Minecraft.

Thank you to Cathy from Bank of Ireland. She was in school to speak to us about the evolution of money and money over the world. πŸ’°πŸ’·

πŸ₯žPancake TuesdayπŸ₯ž

Pancake Tuesday was a success in P7B. Everyone was able to enjoy a pancake with a variety of different toppings. Some people were going by the motto, ‘the more sugar the better’.

Drama🎭

As we have been looking at the Titanic, the class were put in small groups and had to complete a Freeze Frame. Their acting had to show a scene of their choice, as Titanic was sinking. The rest of the class then had to guess what that particular group were trying to portray.

Numbers Day πŸ’―

As well as dressing up with a number we completed some number activities in school today.
1. Nerf Target Shooting- each child had 3 shots to score as many points as possible.
2. Game 24- using the numbers to make the number 24.
3. Snap- a game of snap where children had to recognise different pairs.

STEMπŸ—’οΈ

We planned and designed our very own Jack-in-the-Box. We were using pneumatics as our energy source that made our ‘Jack’ pop up.

Internet Safety DayπŸ›œβ€ΌοΈ

We took a look at some different scenarios we may come across online and had to decide if they were ‘okay’ or ‘not okay’. We discussed our answers and provided a reason.

Titanic Trip🚒

What a GREAT trip we had at the Titanic Centre in Belfast!!

Forest School🌲πŸ’ͺ🏼

In January with so many fitness New Year Resolutions we decided to make a fitness circuit in forest school. We had to target different muscles in our body.

NumeracyπŸ“πŸ”’

As we have come to the end of our angles topic in Numeracy we completed a carousel lesson with different stations.
1. Angle Snap

2. Recording different acute, right and obtuse angles they see around the classroom.
3. Angle Art- drawing intersecting lines on a page and measuring the angle that they meet.
4. Drawing an angle of their partners choice.

Literacy✏️

We were working on our paraphrasing skills. Working in pairs, we had to work out how to rewrite something without changing the original meaning.

ICTπŸ’»πŸ§

We had good fun in the computer room researching different people who were involved with the Titanic. The only thing we had to begin with was a picture. We had to find out their name and more information about them!

Literacy✏️🚒

TITANIC!! We have just started a new topic and are really excited to learn more about the Titanic. Today we completed a carousel activity. There were 4 areas, each with a different title- ‘The Ship’, ‘People’, ‘Places’ and ‘Other’. We had 4 minutes, with our group, at each area to write down everything we know. We then came together at the end to present and discuss all the points that were recorded.

STEMπŸŽˆπŸ’¨

P7 have been looking at how air can be used as an energy source.  We created a Balloon Jet and had a competition to see which Jet would travel the furthest across a piece of string. Each group came up with the design that they believed would be the best.

PEπŸ’ͺ🏼

We enjoyed getting back to Healthy Kidz this week and working on our dodging skills.

Literacy✏️

Each group was gave a different environment. They had to think of ways the describe that particular place and record these using Alan Peat’s ‘2 Pair Sentences.’

NumeracyπŸ”’πŸ§Š

In class we have been looking at the properties of 3D shapes. Today we looked at the net of a cube. We had to cut each example out and decide whether it was or wasn’t the net of a cube by folding it accordingly.

ICTπŸ‘©πŸΌ‍πŸ’»πŸ§‘πŸ½‍πŸ’»

We are using the iPads to create an ebook on ‘Energy’, our WAU topic. Different pages cover different areas including What is Energy, Why do we need Energy and Renewable/Non Renewable Sources of Energy.
