Playful Science. Today’s investigation was to find ways to help Incy Wincy not get washed down the pipe when it rains! After brainstorming ideas, the children tried to stick Incy to the pipe with jam, glue, sticky tape, blue-tack and Velcro. We found that jam was the worst thing to use because it washed away straight away! Blue-tack was best thing to use, but only if we dry the pipe first. We stuck Incy on with a big lump of blue-tack and even after ten buckets of water were sent down the pipe, he was still stuck on tight!

Literacy fun at PE! We combined PE and literacy in our fun parachute games in the afternoon class: we enjoyed Row, row, Row your boat, The Grand Old Duke of York and Ring a Ring a Rosies as well as some great teamwork games. The boys and girls had a great time and are already looking forward to more nursery rhyme fun with the parachute next week!
Numeracy in the forest: the boys and girls in the afternoon class collected lots of different sticks. We worked together as a class to put them in size order. We started with the smallest and compared the sticks to put them in order up to the biggest. We also talked about different words for big and small.
Numeracy in the forest: the boys and girls in the morning class collected lots of different sticks. We worked together as a class to put them in size order. We started with the smallest and compared the sticks to put them in order up to the biggest. We also talked about different words for big and small.
Ditch the Dark day. We learned the importance of nice bright clothes so drivers can see us easily.
Playful science: we wondered are blackberries really black? When we looked closely we discovered that they are black, red and purple! And the juice inside is a reddish purple colour. We found that they are a soft fruit with a tough bit in the middle, they taste sweet and sometimes the seeds get stuck in our teeth! We also discovered that the juice turns our fingers and tongues red!
Music in the forest: the afternoon class made shakers using dried peas, lentils and rice at Forest School then enjoyed using them to make music!
Music in the forest: the morning class made shakers using dried lentils, peas and rice at Forest School, then enjoyed making music with them!
Both classes grew some microgreens: we put some seeds into an empty plastic tub, we put some seeds in a tub with damp kitchen roll and we put some into some damp soil. The seeds in the empty tub didn’t grow at all; the seeds in the damp kitchen roll grew a little bit but then wilted very quickly; the seeds planted in the soils grew into strong microgreens. We know that seeds need soil and water to grow into healthy plants!
