Crazy conker-rolling art work! (PM class). We dipped the conkers into brown, orange or yellow paint, then tilted the box from side to side and back and forth to leave great paint trails on the paper!

Both classes grew some microgreens: we put some seeds into an empty plastic tub, we put some seeds in a tub with damp kitchen roll and we put some into some damp soil. The seeds in the empty tub didn’t grow at all; the seeds in the damp kitchen roll grew a little bit but then wilted very quickly; the seeds planted in the soils grew into strong microgreens. We know that seeds need soil and water to grow into healthy plants!

Crazy conker-rolling art work! (AM Class). We dipped the conker into Autumn coloured paints and then tilted the box in all different directions to make lots of marks on the page.

Ben in the morning class brought in two HUGE pumpkins that he grew at home! Our playful science investigation this week was to find out what is inside! It was great fun! After Mrs Marks cut the top off, the boys and girls in both classes got stuck in! We found out that the stringy stuff inside the pumpkin is called the ‘guts’ and keeps the seeds healthy. We also learned that the stem joins the pumpkin to the plant, the skin protects the pumpkin and the bit we can eat is called the ‘flesh’. We have saved some pumpkin seeds to see if we can grow some of our own pumpkins!

The morning class had their first PE session in the hall today and did great listening! We pretended to be various animals who move in different ways, we played the traffic light game and then enjoyed the Spots game. It was great fun!

The afternoon class had their first PE session in the hall today: we warmed up by pretending to be different animals that move in different ways. We then played the traffic light game and the spots game to test our listening skills. Well done, everyone!

Our afternoon class love all things to do with Autumn this week! They printed with fruit and vegetables, explored number using conkers in our conker challenge, made little gardens in our Pumpkin patch playdough and enjoyed small world play with our farm set. What a busy and fun week!

Our morning class have been enjoying a range of Autumn activities this week, including Autumn lacing, pumpkin patch play dough, a conker numeracy challenge, small world play with the farm set and painting with fruit and veg! What a busy and fun week!

Playful science 2 PM Class: can you grow a rainbow? We gave the children strips of kitchen roll, washable pens and tubs of water. The children drew some blocks of colour along one edge, dipped the strips in water and watched as the water and colour seeped through the strips. Ta-da, homemade rainbows!

Playful science 2 AM Class: can you grow a rainbow? We gave the children strips of kitchen roll, washable pens and tubs of water. The children drew some blocks of colour along one edge, dipped the strips in water and watched as the water and colour seeped through the strips. Ta-da, homemade rainbows!

Our first visit to Forest School was a big hit! The boys and girls enjoyed snack in the outdoor classroom then went exploring! There were a few challenging obstacles but everyone tried so hard! Well done, Morning Class!

Playful science PM Class: we carried out our first mini-investigation today - how can we make bubbles? We had squirty bottles, soap and sponges and the children had great fun making lots of suds! There were a few bubble monsters!

Playful science AM Class: we did an investigation today - how can we make bubbles? We used squirty water bottles, soap and sponges and set the children a challenge, to make as many bubbles as they could! It was terrific fun and we learned that you need water and soap mixed together to make suds, and if you squeeze the soap through the sponge it is even more bubbly!
