WOW!! - 500KG OF FOOD AND £1252 COLLECTED
Fri 08 Jan 2021December 2020
Hardy Memorial Primary School
Thank you so much for your support of Armagh Foodbank during Christmas 2020.
I’m pleased to report that you successfully collected an amazing 500 kg of food donations and £1252.00 in cash which is amazing
2020 has been a very busy year for Armagh foodbank and has seen many challenges and blessings. Apart from all the practical challenges we really miss sitting and chatting with people face to face, but we have had many opportunities to chat on the doorsteps and via phone with many people facing challenges from all walks of life.
From we have opened on 18th July 2015 we have given out over 65 tons of food to people in need in the local Armagh area with around 25 tons of that in 2020.
During first lookdown we were distributing food via a council box scheme which we were distribution 320 boxes per week . None of the food distributed via the box scheme is recorded in our statics as we felt the need did not necessarily fall into people being able to afford food but rather were shielding and struggled to get access.
With one in five children living in poverty in the Armagh area, every day local people are forced to send their children to bed hungry.
Thank you for your continued support and being part of the solution.
Many thanks,
Richard Thompson

EA Literacy Service Letter
Wed 02 Dec 2020The EA Literacy Service announces the launch of the first edition of its Literacy Newsletter.
Dear Parent/Guardian,
We have received this exciting first edition Newsletter from the EA Literacy Service, and we invite you to share this with your child/children at home, if suitable. The content of the newsletter is for parents and children, who at some point in their school career may experience difficulties with literacy.
This issue focuses on spelling with lots of useful, practical ideas and resources to use at home. It also contains details on how the newsletter can be read out loud using assistive technology (Texthelp Read & Write and Immersive Reader) and provides instructions for this. Please copy and paste the link below into the Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge browser to view at home and explore this amazing new resource for Northern Ireland pupils, parents and schools.

With this new initiative the Literacy Service would value your feedback via the Survey Monkey at the end of the newsletter. Any contributions of your child’s work showing their super skills, comments and stories may be included in future issues, with your consent.
This is the first edition and our school have been asked by the Literacy Service to run a competition to suggest an original name for this newsletter. If your child has an idea or suggestion for a name, please send it to your school from your child’s c2k email address. All suggestions will be considered and the best sent to the Newsletter Editors. The winning suggestion, the child who made it and the school that the child attends will be part of a feature in the next edition.
We hope you enjoy sharing this new project with your child or young person, should it assist in the development of their literacy ability.
Yours sincerely
Mrs Janet McCann
