Shannaghmore P6W - Day 1!

  • P6T Assembly with World Cup Hockey star!!!

    Thu 29 Nov 2018

Today P6T did a fantastic assembly on 'Being Positive' and following your dreams - just as our mission statement says!! It was exceptional and to add to it we were delighted to have Shirley McKay, a World Cup hockey silver medalist and most capped ever Irish athlete, to join us and tell her story. We listened as she advised on her journey of grit, determination and enjoyment. What a privilege it was to have Shirley sign our autograph book and be part of a very momentous assembly.

Thank you Mrs Thompson, P6S and Shirley for a great morning.

  • 90th Anniversary Celebrations!

    Mon 12 Nov 2018

What a day! We started with a special assembly and were delighted to welcome into school a pupil from the class of 1928 - Mrs Charlotte Sheldon. She was accompanied by Mrs Jose Brennan, Mrs McAdam and Mr Douglas, all former pupils. It was also lovely to have Mr Woods and Mr King, both former Principals of the school in attendance. We were also delighted to have Mr Speers and Mrs Hutchison, representing our Governors.

The boys and girls treated everyone to singing, poetry and a virtual tour of Richhill. We heard about how Mr Hardy had fought so hard for a new school in Richhill. We then listened to our special guests reminisce about life in Hardy Memorial in their day. What a treat it was! Cake cutting and Happy Birthay then followed with the youngest and oldest pupil in attendance on the day, Jethro and Katie cutting the cake with Mrs Sheldon. A special thankyou to Joanne Rolston who made our 90th cake and then 16 cakes - 1 for every classroom!! Our Eco Council then went out with our special guests to plant a commemorative tree!

It was then fun and games for all our pupils - learning the Charleston, playing hoopla, hopscotch, Black Jacks, going on the Pogo Sticks, Kicking the Can, Marbles etc. A host of games dating back to that era. To top it all we had a conker and bubble gum competition.

CLICK ON CLASS PAGES TO SEE LOTS OF PHOTOS OF THE GAMES AND COMPETITIONS

Thank you to the organising committee and to all those who made today so special.

  • P6K enjoy workshop with artist - Aly Harte

    Tue 06 Nov 2018

Aly Harte Art Workshop! 👩🏼‍🎨 🎨 P6S had a visit from Belfast artist, Aly Harte. She taught the boys and girls different techniques for using soft pastels. In the end each child created an abstract piece of art displaying our very own Richhill Castle! We even used a photo dating back to the 1920s as part of our 90th anniversary celebrations
