  • Gardening at Hardy!!

    Tue 19 Apr 2016

The Eco Council have been working hard with Mr Jonathan Harty to get our raised beds cleared and ready for planting. We hope to grown vegetables that the canteen will be able to use e.g. carrots, potatoes, brussel sprouts etc.

They then planted a snowdrop garden at the front of the school which we hope will look lovely in the autumn/winter.

P6/7 Mr Collins class then worked hard today to ensure we had good topsoil and compost in the beds ready for P4 to plant on Wednesday!

  • Dental Fun!

    Mon 29 Feb 2016

A huge thank you to Mrs Diane Anderson, one of our Nursery parents, who came into school to tell us all about healthy eating and how important it is to look after our teeth. Mrs Anderson is a dentist near Newry and she taught us all about the importance of avoiding too many sugar attacks and the need to brush our teeth regularly. We also learned how much sugar we should have each day and the importance of drinking water and milk.

Mrs Anderson taught us about a new app called the SUGAR SMART APP. This reads the bar code on all products and immediately tells you their sugar cube content. We really enjoyed the talks!
